If that's not enough, there are also 2 indoor pools leased in a cooperative agreement with School District 99.

History:
In 1832, Pierce Downer built a home in Downers Grove and claimed 150 acres of forest and prairie land. The huge grove of trees in the middle of the vast Illinois prairie provided the raw material needed to begin a new village. The first store and first schoolhouse opened 13 years later in 1845. The arrival of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy railroad in 1864 brought a new opportunity to the settlers. They could deliver their products and produce more efficiently to Chicago. By the early 1900's, the village had seven churches, three hotels, four manufacturing companies, several civic organizations and a thriving economy.

When Chicago began construction of its expressway system, Downers Grove was provided with an excellent transportation network. Now Downers Grove literally finds itself at the center of the transportation network in DuPage County. Today the Downers Grove population has grown to approximately 50,000 with almost total land development.
